Ultra Easy

Hello, everyone!

Okay, so, this seems super simple, so I am sorry if there's been a similar entry in the past that I'm missing. What I need is easy meal ideas.

Now... there are tons of excellent easy recipes here, but even many of those are too complicated. The thing is, I'm sick (long story, but the important fact here is that it's constant and long-lasting), which is presenting a challenge; I need healthy meals, but preparing them is often too much. Every now and then I'll have enough energy to make a really good meal with lots of ingredients and cooking, but MOST of the time, anything that takes more than a few minutes and involves work like lots of slicing and dicing and preperation is... usually asking a lot.

SO.

I need help thinking up ideas! Another downside of being sick: brain fail!

Thanks in advance, guys. <3

Who kicked me?

  • Nov. 27th, 2009 at 10:35 PM
I really don't know how to explain this, but I'll try. When I got my period, the first day came with all the fun stuff but also something extra this time. My vagina feels a bit like someone kicked me there. I have pressure and soreness. I normally use tampons, but even a pad hurts a bit.Has anyone had this before?

help!

  • Nov. 27th, 2009 at 9:36 PM
this is my first time posting here and i need some advice.
i haven't gotten my period in 2 months.i was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis back in september and had my period september 13th. of course the news of the diagnosis left me very depressed and stressed out so i'm pretty sure that's the reason for the absence (because i'm not sexually active), Last week I had side pains on my left side so i'm pretty sure that was me ovulating. does that mean that my period should be coming soon? i'm going to the gyno on monday regardless but was just wondering if i should be expecting it soon. i've got cramps and everything, just no period yet.
thanks for your help!

Virginitiphobia

— The fear of rape.

by Patrick Ryan Frank

They took her out to the field in a new black truck
that smelled like apples and the denim

of a young man's thigh. They turned the engine off
but left the radio on, the headlights lighting

the woods to the west, toward the mountains, then
to California. They laid her down

and tied her hands over her head with field-grass.
She could have pulled them free, no problem,

ripped the roots right out of that soft dark dirt.
They told her she was beautiful.

Incredible Tofu Whipped Cream Recipe!

  • Nov. 27th, 2009 at 9:51 PM
When I was in living in Tokyo my favorite restaurants was this vegan/macrobiotic place named Cafe 8 (http://www.cafe8.jp/). They had the most amazing tofu whipped cream I have ever tasted.. so I just had to buy their cookbooks. I made the tofu whipped cream recipe for the first time yesterday and it turned out perfect. I think its definitely worth sharing :)

So here it is:
1 package drained firm silken tofu
4-5 tablespoons maple syrup
1-2 teaspoons rum
dash of vanilla extract
dash of salt

Blend the tofu until smooth in food processor. Blend in the maple syrup little by little. Blend rum, vanilla extract and salt. Add more maple syrup and rum if necessary.

Hello,

Could anyone point me to some poems they enjoy that center around the theme of, or mention, monsters? Thank you.

Changing pill brands?

  • Nov. 27th, 2009 at 9:24 PM
I'm currently on Loestrin, the kind with 4 iron pill days, and the rest are active pills. When I went to PPH, they gave me some more pills, and I just noticed (I have to start a new pack soon) that although they have the same ingredients, they have 7 iron pill days, and therefore less active pills.

What is the functional difference between 4 vs. 7 non-active pill days? Will it affect me differently? Is this a switch I should discuss with them? Do I need to be careful about having sex with condoms for a while since I'm making a change to a different combo of active/inactive pills, or is it a smooth transition that wouldn't compromise my protection?

Thanks!

It gets confusing if part of it is in the subject line. I am not always sure how to paste secrets like that together. I just started using Flickr, these photos are annoyingly small but whatever.

We can never sell out because we never bought in. )

This is the first time I haven't written much in a journal. I usually write at least some lyrics or a quote in the middle of a page, but now I just wanted to let the drawings speak for themselves. I've also avoided listening to music with lyrics because I don't want to illustrate the songs - instead, I've listened to jazz while painting.

I have to admit I haven't painted much before. I've used paint on the background of my pages and I've used it to colour in some details, but now I've created whole pages using paints. And mom bought me oil pastels, the last time I used them I was like 10... I kinda love them, though.

I'll probably change my journaling style after a while again, but it's nice to try new things and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with the results. It's kinda hard to even try to write anything in my journal, because I feel like I don't need to use words anymore.

But yeah thanks for looking, I'll stop rambling now... ♥

Also, my livejournal is in Finnish so please don't add me unless you're Finnish too.

Not sure about Mirena

  • Nov. 27th, 2009 at 8:17 PM
I just had my pre-op consult for getting an endometrial ablation and tubal (I'm currently on Seasonale). The doctor acted like I had my head up my ass. She asked why I wanted this, and I explained about my two-week periods and marriage-threatening libido problems.

Nurse Practitioner at my original appointment said they won't do the ablation without a tubal, and New Doc said that was totally untrue. New Doc is pushing a Mirena IUD.

Overall, I feel like she didn't take me seriously and just doesn't want me to have permanent birth control. However, the Mirena will probably be covered by insurance, and the operation wouldn't. Elective surgery does not fit our current budget.

I'm in a holding pattern until someone gets back to me about insurance coverage. Based on friends' feedback, Mirena also causes libido problems (Doc swore it wouldn't) and will make me break out and gain a ton of weight (which she also denied) and will make me bleed constantly (she swore I'd stop periods altogether).

I'm not sure where to go from here. Give Mirena a try anyway, and possibly lose more of my life to feeling like shit? Try to find another doctor and start fresh, despite the financial limitations?

The funny thing is that my husband offered to get a vasectomy, and I'm sure he wouldn't get bingoed, but that doesn't solve my two-week periods.

Always I have been afraid
of this moment:
of the return to love
with perspective.

I see these breasts
with the others.
I touch this mouth
and the others.
I command this heart
as the others.
I know exactly
what to say.

Innocence has gone
out of me.
The song.
The song, suddenly,
has gone out
of me.

The Mirror on the Ceiling
by Sinead Morrissey

I took it down two years ago, but he still comes knocking.
There was too much space in him.
I gave him everything on the outside –
The long curve of my spine; arms, feet, thighs.
He was the actor and director of his own imagination,
Dying for every exterior. The moving
Crown of my head was the rising star in his heaven.

Never whole and never alone, I got to wanting it
Without the sight of it. No show, no reflection –
Not even in his eyes, which were so outside of himself,
So beside himself, so down on every last cell of himself –
I craved for nothing but blind discretion.
He stands on my doorstep, pleading his lost barbiturate,
But the mirror is in the outhouse. I promise cobwebs, whitewash.
